The Meaning of Birdsong

What is the song
that the morning bird
sings

awaiting her love
from the mountain
springs

away and far
her memory brings
verses
from ancient dreams

Filling spaces
between each beat
a heart knows its own
captivity

longing to thaw
a tundra freeze
the flourishing
of love to believe

she carries the sunrise
upon her wings
