Llama

Roberto Suárez Torres 1983 (New York)

Los pescadores suben la carga,
cual una ladera la varga
que de sendas definen la talla,
y en muchas noches largas
protegiendo su caza por mallas,
tempestades los embarga
en muelles después de la fuente;
chasquidos fuertes crujen el rincón,
brilla el oro de un medallón
montado llamando a la suerte,
encima del incienso que vierte
entre liras de un leso patrón.
En silencio se hinchó la cresta,
fuego cual culebra que lenta toma,
con ardor las venas las retuesta,
cimientos trastoca y desploma;
a dos alas nuevo brinda piñón,
y árbol mueve ceder su copa
cuando descama larga muda,
y muchos encantados explota.
Negra la caverna donde suda
y se abandona a la pasión;
llama trémula en una visión.
