My Friend the Stars

I’m going to talk to the stars,
After all, they’re the only ones who understand,
I’m going to talk to the stars,
They’ve been called pretty but from another land,

I like to talk to the stars,
The listen to my stories,
I like to talk to the stars,
The glisten with glory,

The stars talk to me,
Even with no words,
The stars talk to me,
They like to feel heard,

I listen to the stars,
They are a lot like me,
I listen to the stars,
So their hearts be set free,

I wish to be a star,
So bright in the night,
I wish to be a star,
To guide others with my light.

About this poem

I wrote this poem one night when I couldn’t sleep and decided to look to the stars for guidance. I thought about my life and then a more human version of their lives. I figured I could write how I felt, and so I did.
