that girl

You hand out virtues in individually wrapped packets
multicolored and sanitized for public consumption
Handshake chasers clothed in silken jackets
Your charity is a mix of silver wrapping and presumption

How beautiful is your dance as one foot speaks and the other answers
with your purse packed with lipstick and platitudes
friends like understudies ,on-call rehearsed dancers
you entertain, determined to decorate their placid moods

Satisfied with each reflection you gleefully embrace
Never growing tired of the skin in which adorns you
Pity for others is a mantle you seem to always misplace
your benevolent gift for the many who seem so worn through

You speak of humility like a new sweater to  wear
this years fashion, designed with you in mind
whistling a tune you so generously share
with the subjacent folk, the less fortunate kind

Your smile glides across room as you clutch your novelette
Well chosen to showcase the wisdom which you purchase
with speech so grand from your pre-studied alphabet
A soothing sound given to others by your largess
