Stevenson, poems and sagas

Douglas Blair 1951 (London)

Robert Louis…
You were ill most
Of your strained life.
Ended somewhere
Bolstered by your wife.
Could not shake
Those scenes so rich
Scottish Highlands
Treasure Isle
Doctor Jekyl, Mr. Hyde
And his ghoulish smile.
Felt the heart of
Mortal trials.
Youths would venture there
Under covers
Just like you.
Travels everywhere.
Books and books
Their tour guide oft
Visions held for years.
Coming back
In whimsy, then
Laughter or some tears.
