The Ice Cream

Stand still the little boy
Excited face, crinkled shirt, dirty hand,
There he is, standing still,
Beside the wonderful ice cream truck

How happy he is,
With an ice cream in his hand
By the apple tree,
Down among the huge flower pots,
He sat there happily

Nights thunder, heavy rain,
Fierce wind, broken branches,
Just like a resetting point for a new day,
Sun rise and shine,
The day has started.

And there he is,
Pale face, soaked clothes, broken neck,
By the apple tree,
Laying there peacefully,
With ice cream cone by his side
