As a fan of some of Longerfellow's other works, this is one of those poems that is very controversial. Don't take it at face value - reread it and look into it some more. Its heavy in symbolism.

This poem was truly moving for me. An in credible piece of writing packed into three succinct lines. I will be thinking about this for days to come, and that is all you can ever ask for from a piece of art such as this. Incredible work by Longerfellow yet again

As a man who has lived my life searching for meaning, I never thought I would find it in the 17 syllables of a haiku. I didn't here, but it makes you think.
