Show Them Who You Really Are

Jhahné 1994 (Johannesburg)

Show Them Who You Really Are

You portray yourself as a Saint
But you and I both know, you ain't.
You want them to think that you have a pure heart
But I know, kind, is something you aren't.
You've projected your trauma onto me
And inspite of my souls constant plea
You remain relentless with your vicious debris
No matter what my heart has decreed

The time has come to take off the facade
Because my wrath is akin to that of the Mossad
Ten Hail Mary's could wipe your slate clean
Because on the side error you constantly choose to lean

Show Them Who You Really Are
Because
On your journey you have left many a scar
Your ugly has set a new bar
And this surprise may seem somewhat bizarre
But my vengeance is not far
Because I wished upon the truest star

When you realise the damage you have caused
It will be too late to rewind after a brief pause
Mummified in my memory, you are covered in gauze
Who you really are, the inevitable cause

Alas the day has arrived anew
They now see the real and true you
The end of your cruel reign has been due
With darkness now, in your eternal view
I bet you wish you only knew
How to be a better and kinder you.

About this poem

I wrote this poem when I was hurt by someone close to me. It describes being two faced in a manner of speaking.
