A teacher

Has a name that starts with a B
Not exactly a Bitch
Although she could have been kinder to me

She always tried her best each day
I even liked some of the things that she had to say

Her facts were straight
Her stories entertaining
So where am I getting these bad feelings?

I didn’t agree with her stories
Or the mask that she wore
I didn’t agree with her rules
And at times I began to snore

I still followed her words
And always stepped into line
Never forcing my opinions on her
Always trying to be kind

I guess I felt repressed
Being silent in her presence
Wanting her to call on me
Instead of forming my own sentence

Maybe I followed the rumors about her
Ideas that students like to invent
Perhaps I believed them
Even though I live by the rule
That rumors misrepresent

I chose to believe
In something that wasn’t true
And although I never spoke my thoughts
That was unfair to you

I didn't follow my own morals
I listened to someone else’s song
And that’s why I’m upset with you
It was me all along

About this poem

I wrote this poem about a teacher who everyone claimed was the worst and in class, I believed it even though it might not be true. This poem doesn't just refer to this teacher, it also refers to my feelings when I choose to believe something that is wrong. This poem helped me figure out some of my morals.
