As Your Child

As your child
I fight you for everything
and spend for you nothing
Yet you love me from ever stand against you

As your child
I help you with chores
and do your dishes
Yet you bury me in the work that is yours

As your child
I break your rules
and send you torn paper
Yet you feed and clothe me in what is yours

As your child
I cry to you
And as your child I expect
nothing more
than your respect
