The Seventh Day

The seventh day
Is the day
That God rested on
He made it Holy

He instructed His people
To keep the seventh day
To rest on it
And to do no work on it.

It must be
Very important
Since it is one of the 10 Commandments
Number four on the list

The Jewish people
Had to keep it
Because it was a Commandment.
And in Judaism they still keep it now.
They rest on Saturday
Not on Sunday

So this is how you know
That the seventh day
Is Saturday
And not Sunday

Because the Israelites
Had to always
Keep the seventh day
As the day of rest.

If they do not keep
The seventh day
They are breaking the Commandment.
That is how you know
That Saturday is still the seventh day.
And they always kept it
Since the time of Moses.

Sabbath means Day of rest
You don't have to be Jewish
To keep the Commandment
Since it is the same God Yahweh
Who sent Jesus Christ
His only begotten Son Yeshua
To redeem us

He was the Lamb of God
Who took away
The sins of the world.
Jesus said the Ten Commandments
Are in the two.

It is the same God
Who rested on the seventh day
And wants
All His obedient children
To rest on the seventh day...

Exodus 20:8-11 ESV

8 “Remember the Sabbath day, to keep it holy.

9 Six days you shall labor, and do all your work,

10 but the seventh day is a Sabbath to the Lord your God. On it you shall not do any work, you, or your son, or your daughter, your male servant, or your female servant, or your livestock, or the sojourner who is within your gates.

11 For in six days the Lord made heaven and earth, the sea, and all that is in them, and rested on the seventh day. Therefore the Lord blessed the Sabbath day and made it holy.

Genesis 2:1-3 ESV

1.Thus the heavens and the earth were finished, and all the host of them.

2 And on the seventh day God finished his work that he had done, and he rested on the seventh day from all his work that he had done.

3 So God blessed the seventh day and made it holy, because on it God rested from all his work that he had done in creation.


Exodus 20:1-17 ESV

1 And God spoke all these words, saying,

2 “I am the Lord your God, who brought you out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of slavery.

3 “You shall have no other gods before me.

4 “You shall not make for yourself a carved image, or any likeness of anything that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth.

5 You shall not bow down to them or serve them, for I the Lord your God am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers on the children to the third and the fourth generation of those who hate me,

The Creation of the World

1 In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth.

2 The earth was without form and void, and darkness was over the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God was hovering over the face of the waters.

3 And God said, “Let there be light,” and there was light.

4 And God saw that the light was good. And God separated the light from the darkness.

5 God called the light Day, and the darkness he called Night. And there was evening and there was morning, the first day.

6 And God said, “Let there be an expanse in the midst of the waters, and let it separate the waters from the waters.”

20 And God said, “Let the waters swarm with swarms of living creatures, and let birds fly above the earth across the expanse of the heavens.”

21 So God created the great sea creatures and every living creature that moves, with which the waters swarm, according to their kinds, and every winged bird according to its kind. And God saw that it was good.

22 And God blessed them, saying, “Be fruitful and multiply and fill the waters in the seas, and let birds multiply on the earth.”

23 And there was evening and there was morning, the fifth day.

24 And God said, “Let the earth bring forth living creatures according to their kinds—livestock and creeping things and beasts of the earth according to their kinds.” And it was so.

John 1:29 ESV

29 The next day he saw Jesus coming toward him, and said, “Behold, the Lamb of God, who takes away the sin of the world!


Sabbath comes from the word Shabbath which essentially, as listed above, means “a day of rest.” God commanded a day of rest because He wants us to trust Him, and taking a Sabbath helps keep us from idolizing work. Also, we fall apart if we don’t rest.
