Vase

A vase is accidentally
knocked from its resting
place, cracks, and is returned
to its spot. The vase
is still able to hold
water and flowers that are gifted
to it, but it isn’t as perfect
as before.

A vase is banged into, shattering it, then glued
back together in a desperate
attempt to salvage what remains.
It now weeps water that is poured
into it and brings an end
to flowers that are placed into it, not
allowing them to sprout, vegetate, or pullulate
to become their best form.

It is thrown away because of its uselessness,
the formerly beautiful masterpiece
that once held blooming flowers is discarded
and forgotten, left to crumble and rot
in a dump of a hundred-thousand
other shattered, busted, crumbled, crushed and smashed, vases.
