black hawk down

deep in the heart of the war
where the fire burns without fuel
and emotions run without law

found shell bracelets on the wayside
yesterday is today, the night bright like day time

i build winding rivers with a rifle
i make mountains in the middle of a high school
blood is in the elements, but when i see it leave my pals i cannot sell it to them

in 3 months when my brethren are ash and dust, deaf and crushed, broken and bewildered, soldiered and in silver
the ghosts of a tuesday stand with the ferryman

to read my palms, count my bones, share my despair
