Analysis of Grandma's Kitchen Table
Standing in a chair, watching my Grandma
prepare the evening meal, brings back fond
memories from my childhood.
If I close my eyes I can recall aromas of
biscuits baking in the oven, southern fried
chicken on the stove, cakes and cobblers
cooling on the table.
Every night the family would gather around
and enjoy a hot home cooked dinner, while
reminiscencing about the day's events.
Grandma's table served different functions
though out the day.
Sometimes as a prep table, sometimes as a
meeting place for friends, but always as
a study center for nightly homework.
Even now when I visit her home, I love
to sit at the table run my hands over
the well preserved wood. Still a gathering
place for family and friends, memories run deep.
