Analysis of Never Been In Love
I’ve never been in love before.
I can only imagine.
Heard someone say once it’s synonymous with magic.
Something like static,
But without the noise.
Sneaking in silently with such poise.
Balancing like new salvage.
I watch lovers and think I want it.
To share the unknown.
People appear so close they could be clones.
They touch the same.
They breathe the same.
Hearts melted together.
I assume it feels like the sex in jazz.
Becoming one with the sound.
Feeling it deep.
Lovers make the best music.
A sound that ignites a fire within so wild the earth’s core is envious.
This love is pressed.
Urgent like a mutha fucker
I can relate to Darius...
Cause when that Love Jones comes down you better know how to handle it.
A connection close knit.
My walking CPR kit.
My air is your air.
A love that’s not fair.
Run your fingers through my hair.
Bare it all for this love.
The glove fits still acquits this love.
Free.
To be.
Whoever I want to be this love.
Thanking the most high above.
He knew what I wanted.
Sometimes you gotta stop frontin’.
Accept your blessing.
Cause this love is one of a kind.
A rarity at its finest.
I mean sublime it is.
I’m in awe when in the presence of this love.
It feels like I’m flying.
Good thing I love heights.
Let’s take flights.
Here, there, let’s make love everywhere.
Make love to me anywhere.
I love the places love takes me.
Don’t even know all the places yet but I know it can still take me.
Anyway.
Far away.
Long as my love comes.
And just for riding, I promise to be your Bonnie back.
All facts, no cap.
All gas, no breaks.
Love keeps me safe even when I crash.
I died in love and now I’m alive forever.
Thriving forever.
Light as a feather.
I float.
I can picture our love on a boat,
And we sail,
And get lost at sea.
With God as the lighthouse,
orchestrating the divine.
It’s a special light that shines.
That’s what Common said and we ain’t common.
We’re like a commit.
Did you just see my heart racing through the sky?
This love is up high.
No competition with the birds,
Or the planes,
Or the clouds.
Maybe a little run for its money when it comes to the sun, though.
Yea, I know.
I sound so sure,
But I‘ve never been in love before.
I can only imagine.

About this poem
I wrote this poem over the course of two-three years. I added to it whenever I felt emotional about not sharing real love with a partner. Legend has it that love is still searching for me but self love has been abundant. Please enjoy! Started ~ summer 2020 — finalized 7/27/23
