Analysis of Complication
Fidelis Peter Olowu 1982 (Agbarho Kingdom)
The pen we know is mightier than the sword
Yet can someday be subject to the sword
When to the wall the pen pushes the sword
Dwindling and usurping the power of the sword
The pen and the sword at daggers drawn
Fighting dirty daily in the serene lawn
Mutual respect is funeralled from dusk to dawn
As enemies for life they have sworn
These fellows ought to love each other
After many years of being together
But for lack of reasoning together
They now witch hunt one another
Peace is desecrated; trust is rusticated
Insanity is enthroned; hierarchy is eradicated
Society's simple sweet life is by man complicated
O mortal man! By who shall thou be emancipated?

About this poem
Society is by default a place of peace and tranquility, but man and his inordinate greed has turned peaceful society into a war zone and killed mutual respect and trust. This poem is thus, a clarion call for mankind to return society to status quo where people can be trusted once again and there would be mutual respect for both leaders and followers which should also translate into respect for hierarchy at home, at the work place and society in general. It is a four stanza poem, with a rhyme scheme of AAAA, BBBB, CCCC, DDDD
