Analysis of Whiskey Tears
Take the whiskey from my hand. I don’t need it anymore.
It leaves me lying to myself. It leaves me lying on the floor…
Sitting here in the dark, staring at pictures of you. Some of them just break my heart. But at least they pay their dues…
Another day just passes by. Man, it’s slowly burning like hell. I made a promise not to touch another drop. But it’s obvious I’ve failed.
There are moments that I try to hide, in the shadows of the night. You can smell it on my breath. I just lost another fight…
So take whiskey from my hands. I don’t need it anymore.
It leaves me lying to myself. It leaves me dying on the floor...
If I can promise you tomorrow, there would be no yesterday. I can’t handle all this sorrow. I can’t handle all this pain.
You know I’ll never understand… so take the whiskey from my hands…

About this poem
I wrote this poem the last night I drank while I was drinking. I was ashamed of myself. I drank for over 20+ years. I've been sober for 9 months since writing this poem. Sometimes I read it if I get any temptations.
