Analysis of Move
Ariel Fleming 2005 (Greenwood, MS)
You sit in a pile of ashes, all from past sins
You throw sticks and stones at me
When you see my ash pile is running thin
Why are you mad at me, for being the best I can be
You point your gun at me, cause you know I'll succeed
Hoping it'll bring me down
but now you have a frown when I just walk around
Are you upset because every step I take
is with confidence and pride
While you sit in a seat with nothing but defeat and lies
Are you upset because I can't forget the times
I held out my hand and you pulled me down
So you could have the higher grounds
I cannot hate you, for you seem to do that to yourself
I can pray for you, and wish for better in your health
For I have a road to walk, cause that is god plan
I will not allow you to chain me here
keep me from my goals, with a distance
Anger is no use to me, for it won't help me move along
I will say it surprises me
how your eyes hold so much hate
Mad at someone else
cause you refuse to change your fate
Now I bid your fair well, my old friend
I pray to God, you come to your sense
And not let the ash trail you led here
Build once again
