Analysis of He Never Knew

My father never knew what I
Became since death had closed each eye.
He did not know of my six years
In Air Force clothes, would he have cheered?

He never knew that I became
A teacher who did not seek fame,
Nor did he know I met a girl
With whom a son would change my world!

I wish I could have seen my dad
See all adventures that I had
And that his grandson's middle name
Was Dad's name which I did proclaim!
