Analysis of A poem from me to you

Dale Grisham 1959 (california)

I wanted to date you but you set me straight, your not attracted to me as being your mate. I find you beautiful, Smart, Funny and charming to no end. We get along so well, I would be about as happy just being your friend,
So down that road we went , you kept me smiling and amused, then I find I was only being used. I wasn`t wasn`t trying to buy you, show off or be something I`m not. Just trying to see you happy because deep inside you are not.
There is so much more I wanted to do for you as a friend, So you would truly be happy in the end.
