In my mom's kitchen
I became a woman, raised
On love and butter.

About this poem
I wrote this poem for my mom. Since I grew up and moved out, she has always said that she does not want any gifts for Mother's Day, so every year, I make her a piece of art incorporating a Haiku which I compose for her. This one, which was the first Haiku I gave to her, has remained her favorite. It encapsulates my childhood and how I became the woman that I grew into.
