Analysis of being me.
Q. Rose 2004 (Mi)
You will never understand what it's like to be me.
A pretty face; not pretty enough to be desired
Soft hands; too rough to hold,
And a loud voice, just loud enough to avoid annoyance.
Being me is looking through a two-way mirror.
You look up and see a reflection
Words behind a mass of secrets nobody bothers to be curious about.
My mind speaks so many words
All the messages of self-love and hate are words that don't need to be said out loud
But they could be,
Never knowing the difference between lust and love
Never know if I need them
Or if I'm just bored.
Being me is always being “amazing”.
Always a happy little girl
The same one I've been at 8, now at 18
Never being looked into deeply enough to know if the connotation is correct
I ask for so little
And I give so much
I have so much to offer
But you will never understand what it's like to be me.

About this poem
I wrote this poem because I feel I am not seen, heard, or understood by my peers. It is about the struggles of being a young girl in a world of people who do not care about what a person is like on a deeper level.
