Analysis of "The Interlude"
The Interlude
When this time was deep asleep
And darkness brimmed the evening shore,
There’s a little dove that sang a hymn,
While this sea waved its arms at me,
Her spring-like hair was golden-white
In this humid darkness of the Cherry Springs;
I found solace in her sultry stare,
Holding my longing soul abreast,
Her wings were large or there you’ve seen;
Her armless body in parts of sea,
Far and wide I gazed at her,
As her beauty beaconed life to me,
“Even if life is like a cyclical spin of chance,
Let my heart remain ashore,
While my Maiden lights the scene
Like the evening night in Greece”—A MEMORY;
In it dwells a drifting forgotten star.
