Analysis of My Meadowland Library

Eric Uhland 1959 (Omaha, NE)

The sun seeps through the stratus canopy
and warms me as I sit reading.
It illuminates the tall green grass
and wildflowers that grace my
meadowland library.
The birdsong and gentle hum of the breeze
I share with Mole and Rat
as they venture along
the river's unexplored tributaries and banks.
I love how the book feels in my hands.

About this poem

I wrote this while at Morgan Territory Regional Park, Contra Costa County, California. I was sitting with my book in a verdant, completely secluded area.
