Analysis of A Loaner Child (A father's bitter-sweet lament)
I’ll be standing proudly by
as I walk you down the aisle,
Regaled in white, a royal sight,
A Beauty bathed with Style
I raised you from a Babe- in-Arms
Expecting you were mine,
A gift from God, I stand here awed,
He had His own design,
I am truly thankful now,
With those who love you so,
For Another’s love (Gift from above)
I gladly let you go.
Today I put your hand in his,
My memories now compiled,
I realize, with tear-filled eyes
You were just A Loaner Child

About this poem
I penned this poem when I visited my daughter on her wedding day. She was so happy as she danced around the room. I realized with mixed emotions how I felt. I gave her the poem, she hugged me, and we both had a tear-filled moment.
