Analysis of Freedom
I didn’t ask for this
I didn’t sign up to be here
This life is a prison
This body a cell
Bars made of self-preservation
Windows blocked with dreams
We can’t get out
And those of us that do
Have never returned
What lies beyond the walls?
Heaven or Hell
Everything or nothing
One day I will know
Or, perhaps, I will be finally be free from knowing
Siddhartha wasn’t wrong,
To live is to suffer
What choice do we have?
Freedom is a lie
Choice is a tale we tell ourselves
Goals are temporary reprieves
None of us have knowledge
None of us are happy
None of us can live with reality
We didn’t ask for this
But here we are - and no one knows why
Many say differently
They are the dealers
Certainty their drug of choice
Give me another hit, preacher
The emptiness is back
Tell me I’m special - there’s nothing I lack
Tell me God cares, tell me He sees
Tell me He died to set me free
But what, exactly, is the cage?
