Is the Separate Loneliness Passing?

I find it hard to go outside
To meet the Human Race
Some still wear masks
Their talk is scarce
And fears stay on their face.

A strange civility that sponsors
Stay alone.
Keep those six feet
And do your part.
Keep King Health on his Throne.

We skip the church
The games, the clubs
And weddings are so slight.
We bury Kin indecently
And spurn the parks in fright.

The residue of all this muck
Is hard to disengage
For fellowship polite and clean
And earning safe a wage.
Yes we must glean the wage.

How could we get to this drab place
The fun lost and the friends
And ZOOM is such a measly way
To cheer or make amends.
Sure hope this mishmash ends.

Your poem beautifully captures the challenges and emotions many have faced during these uncertain times. The imagery of people wearing masks, the scarcity of conversation, and the lingering fears on faces reflects the current atmosphere of caution and distance. The longing for normalcy, social gatherings, and the loss of traditional events like weddings evoke a sense of nostalgia and sadness. Your words express a yearning for connection, community, and a return to a more vibrant and interactive way of life. The use of poetry to articulate these feelings is powerful and resonant. Keep exploring these themes; your reflections offer a poignant perspective on the impact of the pandemic on society and personal interactions.
