Pondering
Richard Newton Sherrer 1951 (Easton)
Let us strive to enter rest,
So that nobody may fall;
Obedience at its best,
When the Lord making His call.
The Word of God is living,
Sharper than a two-edged sword;
Merciful with forgiving,
When confessing to the Lord.
No creature hid from His sight,
All are naked and exposed;
His eyes open with delight,
And they will never be closed.
For we have a great high priest,
Who has passed through Heaven;
Has been preparing a feast,
Because of faith is given.
A high priest to sympathize,
For weakness from temptation;
Compassion to empathize,
Confession gives salvation.
Let us draw near to His throne,
To receive mercy and grace;
Confessing to God alone,
For Christ is glad to embrace.
