Mi ultimo adios

My country is filled with history,
Politicians trying to redefine said story,
Change the story where they become heroes,
Because of that in time she froze.

We are now stuck in the past,
Not knowing when it would last.
We keep hearing the word “change”,
We know what it means, but it’s just strange.

We really don’t know how to do it,
All we know is how to cheat.
That’s what we’ve been doing ever since;
For everybody feels like a prince.

We follow our own law,
If it’s not our way, we tend to clench our jaw,
For everything can be paid for,
For our ways are rotten to its core.

I cannot wait until change takes over,
When will we ever find a four leaf clover?
I wanted to make a change for the better,
Only on this land will I be a settler!

I will be the better man!
Damn those fools that ran!
I will stay and die!
I will never say goodbye!

Then I flew to a faraway place,
Where I stayed for a few days,
Where a car is just like having a phone,
Where anybody can buy a home.

“Why can’t we have this?” I said,
Rich or poor can have a slice of bread,
Where everybody knows one law,
I was really in shock and in awe!

If they can do it then why can’t we?!
Why are they living and free?
While we are caged and left with nothing to eat?
Our own past is something we can’t beat!

Now living in this far away land,
Alone and in sorrow I stand,
A better life doesn’t just cost money,
It will leave your eyes red and nose runny.

Being away from the people you love,
Makes you ask questions to the man above,
Should I go back or should I stay?
Is there really no other way?

I seat in front of this screen,
I see an unbelievable scene,
A baby staring back at me,
I will give you a good life, just you see!

I closed the screen with a smile on my face,
Then the smile faded without a trace,
Tears then started to fall,
Next thing I did was curl into a ball.

I could not let myself fall apart,
I had to fight and find a new start,
I opened the screen to find a job,
Hoping that the employer was no snob.

I knocked on every door,
When I had no idea what's in store,
I worked outside my comfort zone,
Ended up getting my back blown,

In my country I was the one on top,
Here I was nothing but a flop,
But there was no turning back,
I know I had to stay on track,

I realized that if my back was broken,
My dreams and goals would end up frozen.
All I really want is to give a good life,
And to make a happy wife.

Wonder when I'll feel her skin against mine?
For when she's not with me I don't feel fine,
But I'm here on this land for her smile,
I'll push through no matter how the stress pile!

This is the beginning of the end,
I now hope that you see me as a friend,
For I am a person in love,
Looking to migrate like a dove,
