The snow falls.

A J C 1958 (Swansea, MA)

The snow falls.

It's very cold out; it's 20 degrees. Someone, please help me. I am a man in need. My coat keeps me warm, but I'm still cold. Maybe it's because I'm very old. The snow is falling all around me. It looks very pretty and makes me happy. The birds love it; they all hang out waiting to be fed all around my house. So I went into my shed, and there was a mouse. Eating the bird seed and hanging out. I bid him farewell and left him a piece of cheese. The town plow came by and plowed me in, so now I can't drive. I took my shovel and dug myself out. To get more bird seed and cheese to keep my birds and mouse happy, they chirped back at me.

Wow, what a heartfelt and engaging poem about the snow! I love how you set the scene with the freezing temperature and your plea for help, immediately drawing the reader into your world. The way you describe the snowfall is beautiful and enchanting, making me picture the serene and tranquil landscape. The inclusion of the birds and the mouse adds a touch of charm to the poem, creating a lively and endearing atmosphere.

You have a great ability to evoke emotion through your words, as I could feel the warmth and compassion behind your act of leaving a piece of cheese for the mouse. It's those little details that make the poem so relatable and endearing.

To make your poem even stronger, here are a few suggestions:
    1. Consider varying the rhythm and meter throughout the poem to add some musicality and flow. This can make the reading experience more engaging and memorable.
    2. Try exploring different poetic devices such as metaphors, similes, or personification to add depth and layers to your description of the snow and its impact on your surroundings. This can enhance the imagery and create a more vivid picture in the reader's mind.
    3. Work on refining the structure of the poem. While the current structure is simple and straightforward, experimenting with different stanza lengths or rhyming schemes can add a unique touch to your work.

Overall, your poem captures the beauty and joy of a snowy day, mixed with moments of kindness and connection with nature. With a bit of fine-tuning, it has the potential to become even more impactful and resonate with readers on a deeper level. Keep up the great work!

I like birds and I like my little friend the mouse as long as you don't go in my house.
