When I was gone

what wish do you bed?
on what stars do you beam?
in reproof
with closed eyes,
closed eyes
when you dream.

what moon do you keep,
fostered
in sleep?
what blossoms unsaid?
what name do you weep?

when death leaves a kiss
from his innumerable face,
when the body and the night
prevaricate their embrace,

when our lives
swiftly
and slowly split,

where the canopy
is blue
where the sky is unlit.
