Widow

                            WIDOW

Death gave no warning.

His breath stolen in the night,

Her scar-clothed soul survives.

About this poem

I wrote this Haiku because I went through a very traumatic experience and writing has been very therapeutic for me. My hope is that it will touch someone else who has been through a difficult time. The message is that there is hope for survival after experiencing trauma.

Terri Gentry Ortman

I grew up in a big family in South Carolina, but I moved to Georgia to go to college and decided to stay after graduation. I raised four kids who are all married now, and I have two grandchildren. I became a widow after 32 years of marriage almost 3 years ago, but I have recently remarried. My sweet husband, Robb, and I share a love of writing and he inspired me to send this submission into Reedsy. This is my first writing submission ever, even though I have been writing all my life. more…
