Analysis of What a Joke!

I told myself I wouldn't write anymore,
But inspiration struck, and words began to pour.
What a joke, I didn’t know I'd catch a cold desire,
In creativity's icy depths, my soul just caught fire.

My heart's ablaze in a foreign world, destiny conspired,
In life's grand adventure, my spirit will be unwired.
Unique at the grip, I'm directed to give sensational slips,
Amid challenges faced, I'll never lose my grip.

With each twist and turn, I'll aim even higher,
Determination strong, fuels my inner fire.
Misplaced determination, borrowed confidence from moments faced,
Though moments may wane, resolve can't be erased.

I didn't think I was the best, okay,
Compliments out the door, no ego to sway.
No humble feature, I allowed my hurts to be told out of horror,
Not seeking the spotlight, I quietly explore.
Through vulnerability, my true self I implore,
I know you may not want to read anymore, but please, a little more.
I promise my words you’ll remember, like a tale in folklore,
In this digital world, our connection to be adored.

Donavan Hicks

I find myself at a loss for words, as it's evident that this introduction falls short of a proper biography. My journey in the realm of writing began with an aspiration to become an investigative journalist. Over the years, I have dedicated my pen to crafting poetry as a medium for conveying profound thoughts, emotions, and sentiments. I have come to realize the profound impact of my written words. Determined to hone my writing talent, I am dedicated to the belief that, one day, my gift will pave the way for me. To all those who have taken the time to read this, I extend my heartfelt gratitude. I welcome any feedback you may have. Furthermore, if you appreciate this poetry, I am pleased to announce the release of my second poetry book, which features accompanying artwork. I assure you that you won't be disappointed. You can find my book, titled "Whispers of the Unseen: Illuminations from Within," available for purchase through this link: [https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0CDNJ3SGZ?ref_=pe_3052080_397514860&fbclid=PAAaZhlPbQJceL_94cvJ-YMQmJes4n-TO0skKU9Aqtupahin8y_Y3UivR0ekY_aem_AYmGbWv1cR2aS7xZeSgqHjgfx_au-mb8MQrzVCWZL_CRgndM2wsk90I2zyssDWVCe58]. more…
