Analysis of What A Coincidence?

Lawrence S. Pertillar 1947 (Connecticut)

Go ahead.
Why not?

Say to others what I said but didn't.
You do this well to get attention.
Also choose and pick,
Words to describe...
My attitude, mood.
And mental disposition.
With my right eyebrow arched high.
Sharper than a widow's peak.

Then...
As you tell more lies,
You believe to be fool proof.
And...
Good enough to sell told on me?
And at my expense?

By all means...
Do not forget to also add,
Not a bill of mine do you pay.
Had paid.
Could or promise would pay.
Nor a cent towards my rent,
Have you ever attempted...
This to do to volunteer.
Or mentioned as to how,
I was doing that alone.
Many sleepless nights I have had.
Reminiscing I do,
The countless number of times...
I turned away,
From your repeated begging...
To care for me and my needs.

And...
Do not forget to also mention,
Who it was 'you' relied upon...
For encouragement.
Even when I was lying on my back,
Healing from an illness and hospitalized.
When you and your previous spouse,
Ended your relationship.
And I listened carefully to your concerns!
About your needing a place to chill out.
Had you asked me how I was feeling?
I don't remember that being,
The purpose of your hospital visit.
Or your objective.
Tell that!

'Why do you always,
Have to bring up the past?
Especially after you had forgiven,
Those lies I told on you.
Somehow,
You miraculously found out about?
I forgot what I did.
Why can't you?'

'Hmmm...
Maybe it has something to do,
With my being quarantined for 6weeks.
And in the hospital,
For a total of 5months.
These petty things to hold onto,
Often unnecessarily linger.
Don't they?

To learn later with it heard,
How you were so concerned...
You went out of your way,
To borrowed money from others.
Just to pocket it yourself.
Leaving them to believe,
What it was you did to pay my bills!
Must have had my tears flowing.
Not knowing you were lieing.'

'Well...
At least you could say,
My intentions were honorable.
Everyone else thought so!'

'And people wonder why,
There are many who love...
Keeping a social distance.
And the wearing of masks.
Hoping not to be recognize.'

'That's not a very nice thing to say.'

'I know.
What a coincidence?
Isn't it?
How you just happen to be here,
Witnessing to hear it.
I'm telling you,
I wish I knew how God manages to be...
Everywhere at the same time!
And not make a sound.
Can you explain that?'

'Who would believe me?'

'Come on?
What difference to you,
Would that make?
You?
You have the ability,
To destroy relationships.
Where is your faith?'
