Puppy Love

A friend and companion,
since six weeks old,
looked after like a babe
in arms.
Brown eyes look up
towards me, gleefully,
bright and wide.
A tail wags vigorously,
thumping the floor,
from side to side.

Happy for a feed,
toilet needs and a walk.
Intelligent, that he is.
Communicating with eye
contact and the prod of a
paw.
If only he could talk.

Pure white soft fur,
looking almost like a
polar bear,
he climbs up onto the sofa
and snuggles into me,
putting one front paw over
my lap.
A quick lick and as contented
as can be,
he takes a nap.

His presence, his persona,
so calming and there is a
bond of friendship, a caring
of each other.
His needs, simple and in return,
gives his love.
Such a lovely nature, gentle
and no bother.

In the morning, he awakes,
looking, listening and wandering
about, seeing what he can out of reach
above.
Tea-time arrives and then time
for the sofa again,
giving his love.
His puppy love.

The poem, 'Puppy Love,' is composed by giving thought to the comforting and values of life. Animals have a way of giving a comfort zone and a pre-occupied interest in looking after them also. In this poem, I am talking about my pet labrador and the enjoyment he gives. It is inspirational and therapeutic to have such a bond, commonly called 'Mans Best Friend'. V J Gatenby, (Author)

Erica, I am pleased that you took the time to read my work. I try to be unique and write factual material that is appealing. The poem is about my labrador. He is now 9 years old and still very much a puppy. He gives me great comfort. Many thanks for your review. It is much appreciated. Vic.

Relation between a sentimental man and innocent puppy, between man and animal.nice poem
Victor Gatenby More than 1 year ago
Umesh, It can be the case that animals are more affectionate and give a calming influence than human beings. It is also the case that animals appreciate being cared for and need to be cared for and can be special for reasons best known to their owners. Many thanks for your comments.
