Hello Im Will. I'm a small town country boy from Ohio. I'm a Ret. combat wounded U.S Marine. I was injured and paralyzed for just over 31 moths during the 1st ground battle of Operation Desert Storm, the battle of Al Khafji in 1991. I've learned to live for today not tomorrow or yesterday. I also served as a Tier 1 Operator for Blackwater and Triple Canopy (Constellis Group). After being in a coma for 6 weeks, 23 surgries, (2 life saving) I began writing poems, quotes and music as a way to heal from the pain of loss. Some years later to be diagnosed with cPTSD, TBI x2, Prolonged Grief Disorder(PGD), Social Axiety and more. Little did I know I was suffering from a deep moral injury. The sad truth is, society has placed a stigma on combat veterans and overall mental health. Education and understanding is key. Not judging, placing stigma or labels on people who are struggling with mental health. We all have a past, we all have demons. Most of all, WE ALL HAVE FEELINGS. Writing was and continues to be my path and outlet to healing. It has been my way of pulling myself from some very dark place in my mind, body and soul. I have a service dog, a 1 year old, black lab named Harley. Harley has been my saving grace. I enjoy playing my guitar, writing poems and music. I have a page on tiktok Danger Close ;IGY6, which is a non-profit I started in effort to end veteran suicide and veteran homelessness which is at epidemic proportions. I enjoy riding my Harley MC anytime the weather allows. I have seen and done a lot in 55 years. I never thought my poems were good, just average at best. I like to believe I'm a humbled writer and I am always willing to accept input, constructive criticism on way to better my work. Thank you all in advance for allowing me to be here among all the great writers. It truly is a blessing. May God bless you, your family. May God guide your hand and hearts as you write.

The Weight of Grace

In the hush of creation’s first breath,
a word was spoken—
love, vast as the ocean’s tide,
delicate as stars spilling their stories.
God, the architect of time,
fashioned a gift,
woven from the fabric of grace,
spun from eternity’s heart:

The Man I Was Before

I could tell he'd seen his demons
By the way he clenched his glass,
And me, I’d come to drown my own,
So I let the moment pass.

We spoke of wars we buried,
Of love we left behind,
Of hands that slipped right through the cracks,
And truth...

Anthem for the Broken

In the rustle of trees, secrets are spoken,
A heart losing rhythm, yet refusing to be broken.
I linger in silence, where the dark thrives,
And ponder the battles that shape our lives.

Your journey feels heavy, a stone on your chest,
...

I Rise

I stand at the edge of a fractured night,
Where silence clings heavy, devouring light.
The carousel spins—relentless, unkind,
Laughter rings hollow, unsettling the mind.

You cling to the murmurs of ghosts in the air,
A war in your chest, but...

The Valley of War and Faith

Through fire we marched, through fate unchained,
where bullets sang and death was claimed.
A war-torn night, a shattered sky,
where angels wept, yet men must die.

The ground drank deep, the air ran thin,
the silence screamed beneath my skin.

Wow Sue. Absolutely breathtaking. I really love how you portray love as a sacred act that unites physical passion with spiritual transcendence. The interplay of fire (passion, energy, divine witness) and water (life, renewal, eternity) suggests that true love is both consuming and nourishing, a force that binds lovers together in a cycle of desire, fulfillment, and eternal devotion.

OUTSTANDING!

Sir, I can't begin to express what your comment and quoting my poem means. I’ve said this several time, " I am so humbled by all the positive input" that i am often at a loss for words. I'm a huge fan of your writings. Ty again
