Iam a 40 year old single Mom. I've been an EMT about 20 years. I discovered poetry when I was a pre-teen thru a counselor who was helping me deal with a bad childhood. My writing has been my main outlet for all the things I have been thru. I have never really shared it with anyone because of how sensitive and personal the content and being told it was not good enough. I decided that I have been doing myself a disservice and also there may be a small chance that someone else in the world might come act one of my writings and it might connect with them and help them realize they aren't alone and there are people in the world that understand whatever the situation. I love to help people. Be there so they don't feel alone. Maybe help them better handle their traumas and find a way to cope, as writing has done for me. I won't know if my writing does that if I don't start trying to conquer my insecurity and fear and put it out into the world. Even if it doesn't help anyone Iam proud of what I have written and despite how some touch really sense areas in me I'm not ashamed. Just as my scars do, they also are badges of honor for the things I have managed to rise above.
