It Was A Cold November Day

It Was A Cold November Day

when low clouds the shape of little hills
unraveled into a string of dull pearls
scooted by the bluster of northerly winds.
The sun remained afraid to come out
my son tossing stones its way to clock
a raven...

MORE MONEY OUT THAN MONEY IN

MORE MONEY OUT, THAN MONEY IN

How about that money I owe?
Letters come to say Hello!.
Another one came yesterday.
Hello again, how much can you pay?

More money out than money in
for this my tongue yearns for gin.
Oh! So little here to...

Apple TV For The Elderly

We may not be lost

  but we are floundering
soul-dulled amphibian-like

  swimming blindly
in large schools upstream

  without pliable thumbs
or purpose

Recipe For Any Season

Recipe For Any Season

Under a starry night
past the corner mailbox
furred by fresh snow
under any bell or bough
to a warm kitchen we go
drawn by butter on hot
biscuits melting oh so slow
add then equal amounts
of heartfelt benevolence...

EULOGY TO AN ENIGMA

EULOGY TO AN ENIGMA

If my wishes were not fanciful farts
& my days had not become sour tarts.
If youth wasn’t lost on martinis with Ginger
& Fate had toiled harder without linger-
ing in less clear & mal-directed ways
I might not wallow in...

Oh. Really. Thank you. I don't think this contest is for me though. I started out joining about six months ago. My first two poems were one of five honorable mentions. Then nothing. I'm not a good fit for Poetry.com.

Thank you. I have to say, I don't think other people caught the theme or humor at all!

I chose it because this poem speaks the truth in righteous narration. It is time to listen to words like these or our Democracy is doomed!

I love the brevity of it but it has a deep meaning in few words.

Thank you so much for the vote and appreciation. It is obviously got a humorous bite to it. Usually the poems on Poetry.com are less humorous. It's got to be revised a bit, tighten up but I like it as well. And like I said, it's "not autobiographical".
