I am 61 years old. Retired. So I have a little more time to spend on my drawings and writing. I never thought about entering a poetry competition before but I’m curious to see if my writings are any good. My wife thinks so plus a few friends but I’m sure they would say that anyway. I would love to get something published. So we’ll see how things go.

The Long Count

The
boy lies
down
on his
bed
His
head resting
on
his hand
She
tucks him
in
and
softly kisses
his
cheek
goodnight

She
lies beside
him
He
falls into
a
deep sleep
But
she
does not
sleep

She

But don’t you have no fear
because grannies hand is near

She’ll pick you up when your

She’s the only show in...

Frozen in time

The thunder clouds roared like a jet plane
I was ambushed by the sleet and the rain

I found myself in Watertown where everyone
looked like Popov the Sunshine clown

I wear a Stetson hat and I strap a gun
Ain't no cowboys left in the land of...

So long Houston

I’m standing at the station waiting
on the 5.15
Because I’m going on vacation to
a place I’ve never seen

All our days are numbered
This cannot be denied
I can hear the train a coming
For one more final ride

So long Houston farewell...

'Dumb

He said the Earth was flat
I said the Earth is what?
Flat?
How could you say that?
How dumb is that?

He said it wasn’t The Saudis
who flew into the towers
But it was little green men all the way
from Mars

Oh yeah!

He says you can...

Hey I really dig this poem. I’m an atheist but I still love spiritual poems. Gospel music too. I have actually wrote a Jesus poem. I’ll post just to let you see it. You are clearly very talented so keep on keeping on

Beautiful poem. “ Untold stories waiting to be worded into existence”. What a great line. One of many. Loved it.

I really like this poem. I have this type of conversation with my grand kids. I love the last verse. When all the passion is gone there’s not much to go on for.

This is the first time I’ve ever done this so I’m not sure if I’m out of my depth. So if anyone reads it then please give feedback.
