At His Feet

A baby lay at her father’s feet,
An ancient custom now obsolete
Where fathers chose to spurn or to keep
Their babbling baby placed at their feet.

He looked at her nose and toes so sweet,
Her almond skin, hair and tiny feet.
His heart warmed...

When My Heart Does Not Feel Right

When my heart does not feel right,
Sinful still and prone to fight,
Bad, impure, not shining light,
Be, dear Lord, its guiding light.

When my heart feels vile with blight,
Wants to wound, not suffer slights,
Seems it can’t do any right,

White Rose

Vintage ruffle, pure and white
Nature’s lace, Oh, lovely sight
Pearl petals bringing delight
Dancing in the midday light.

Emerald bow of green below
Lime foliage swings to and fro
Twisted wreath through lattice grows
Springtime baubles,...

Shortened Not Is The Lord's Hand

Shortened not is the Lord’s hand
He can save you sinner, stand
Deafened not is the Lord’s ear
He can hear your prayers and tears.

But sin hides you from the Lord
Separates you from your God
Hides His face and shuts His ear
Stops you sinner...

What you wrote was beautiful, and it touched my heart. I almost gave you my first vote, but there were lots of good entries this time around. It was a difficult decision to make.

Your poem told a wonderful but sad story. I hope you'll all be together again soon every day and especially at Christmas, healthy and whole.

I liked your poem. Your word choice captured the emotions you were feeling when you wrote it and left an impression on me.

I was also told God won't give us anything we can't handle, but it's not true. Sometimes God gives us things that are far beyond our strength so when we make it through to the other side, we can't say it was us who got ourselves through, it was God who carried us through. That way God get's the glory and not us.

I hope you'll read the book God Speaks by Ray Comfort and the videos about depression and anxiety, from a Christian perspective, at bradhambrick.com/videos, if you are still suffering. They helped me a lot.

Thank you for your lovely comment on my poem. I wrote it to the tune of a song to help me get the metre right. Hopefully, it worked. :)

I loved it :) I hope you will have a reason soon to write a happier poem, but adversity does give us a deeper perspective to write from. I also hope you will read Mike Emlet's book 'Freedom for the Obsessive Compulsive'.
