Days I Must Not Forget

These are days I must not forget
Sunlit days, my soul warmed deep, without regret.
Unfettered feelings before there was shame,
Set free to soak the sun's healing flame.
Days of sweetness that gave me life.
Days of kisses with visions of night.

The Consumerist Conformist Materialistic Paradigm

Trapped, I say, and it's a crime,
By the Consumerist Conformist Materialistic Paradigm.
All my life I have been there,
In a kind of metaphorical electric chair.
Snatched by a force that didn't seem to care.
As far as I know

Why I Write

Why do I write?
Who listens to me?
Who is my audience
Squinting to see?
In the dark abyss they sit.
Desperate, helpless, hopeless
Yearning for relief
For just a little bit
Destroyed by life's circumstance,
Fate's ceaseless woe.

Ionesco's Audience

That tiny enclave of 4 or 5
Meeting above that Paris bar
In the days and nights after the war.
Trying to make sense
Of what just happened.
Of 80 million dead.
Of a mentally ill narcissist
Who mesmerized...

This is not a competition. Comparison is the enemy of all art.

I love the sentiment, the gentle romantic love. I also love the use of language and literary devices. aliteration, onamanpoeia, irony. Yeah that's a good poem.
