Lady Of The Rhododendrums (Jill's Song)

Our life together is often linked by golden songs
Of moments captured, warm and true and rare
Those songs that carry memories, they often speak for me
Sewn into words reflecting how we care

Crazy Mr Bowie could always rock our world
And...

Perfect Gifts

A carpet, luscious and cool
Almost indestructible, yet soothing on the feet
Woven with unblemished stitching, in colours that are easy on the mind.
When the air is hot, it stays cool to the touch, when it gets wet, it absorbs the moisture...

Absence

Courage is not the absence of fear
But the act of doing right in the face of it
Peace is not the absence of conflict
But the deep contentment of the soul
Faith is not the absence of doubt
But the proven conviction of reality
Mercy is not the...

Faith

Do I have faith?
Do I believe that my prayers are heard?
That there is a reason for suffering?
That the world can be rescued, and have real peace?
If so, what is it based on?
Is it wishful thinking?
Tradition?
Vain hope?
Stubbornness?
Or do...

Growing Pains

I have been a pilot and a doctor, and a chieftain, I've run a café and a veg stall and a shop
Discovered forests down the road, and caught a magic toad, and stormed the castle high upon the mountains top
I've walked about on Mars, flown a rocket...

Noble sentiments. You echo the frustrations of many people today. Religion, which should be a force for good, is so often divided and violent. What you say is so true, about love for neighbour - a simple thing, but we don't seem capable.

Just for the record - "Allah" is Arabic, meaning "God." It is not a name. Buddha never claimed to be God. The true God, that Jesus believed in and reoresented, is "Yahweh" (English - "Jehovah"). It does matter who we worship, but we should not fight against those who do not know God.

Well written.

I wish you peace.

This is powerful, and graphic. The writer's obvious strong feelings of frustration and sadness are clearly seen.

The author's name iis ironic because the term "Apocalypse" actually means good news for the earth. Jesus prophesied that - in our generation - "God will bring to ruin those ruining the earth" - Revelation 11.18

The writer skillfully captures the frustration and sadness of our planet's degradation. I particularly like the lines about trees being replaced - what irony!

As someone who is also alarmed by the damge being done to our world, I take comfort from a promise - written over 2,000 years ago. I would like to share it with everyone;

This is lovely, and so positive. It was good to find such a refreshing poem among the many grim things about earth on this site. You obviously have a deep appreciation for our beautiful world, as do I.

May I leave you with a wonderful promise from our creator - to reverse the damage that mankind has done to the earth? -

"God will bring to ruin those ruining the earth" - Revelation 11.18

Have a good day.

This is very moving. Your words are brimming with anguish and heartache. I do not know if they are the personal feelings of yourself, or a brilliant exercise in compassionate reasoning but, I feel for the person described.

As someone who also battles deep despair and dark thoughts, I just wanted to say that, there is hope. I have been personally strengthened and given hope. God is listening, and He is arranging a wonderful release for those who despair at our broken world, and are broken by it. Remember Jesus' words - "Thy Kingdom Come, Thy will be done, on earth as it is in Heaven"? That kingdom will rescue all sincere people like you. It is coming - very soon.

I invite you to read my poem - "Good News." I believe that it will bring you some comfort and peace.

May God give you courage, peace and wisdom.

Very moving. You paint a vivd picture of such sad existence. I am sure many can relate to your words. I sincerely hope that they are not born from personal experience.

I found it particularly sad because my daughter was a prisoner of an abuser. Although she is free of him today, his legacy still tortures her mind.

Very insightful and realistic. I like the way you list the elements of sacrifice that make these future world-molders.

Not sure if you are being optimistic or pessimistic about our future.
