I have been writing poetry since I was18 (42 years now). Having studied Modern English Literature at the University of Amsterdam, I basically write in English about trying to find myself and finding my way in the world, due to my  parents' difficult divorce and subsequent remarriages, I was having a hard time finding my identity. I met my wife in Amsterdam at University during classes (she also did English lit there), and we got married almost straightaway while still students in 1987. In 2017 I found out that I have had to deal with Vanished Twin Syndrome all my life, instead of merely being a misfit. Also it appeared, that I had been living with a problem in my stomach After a third, serious gastric bleeding the problem was surgically removed. Since then, I feel so liberated that I suddenly started to get real results in writing poetry. I have published a little book of poems in Dutch in October 2019 and am publishing new work on a Dutch website (www.gedichten.nl) and work in english  on CosmoFunnel all the time now.

Brook anew

Slowly the brook meanders
− I retraced my steps back −
past the woodland’s edges;
shadows of rings on the surface
of these flowing waters
move across the stream’s sunlit floor,
bright, glasslike, disappearing,
to reappear...

Haunting

ghost

because I already died
or
because I hang on

live on past,

past that one moment
the old times froze,

past that one moment
creating, in passing,

spaces.

Am I to haunt
this new...

tidal forces

Even in the sunlight this head
is aware of the night waiting
for her chance,

while the heart ever seeks
the invisible moon.

Tidal forces, cleaving,
pain rules from behind the silence,
by...

My tongue

At the end of
my tongue
there are sounds

and in those sounds
air

and in that sky
birds,
come again

summers long forgotten,
far from home,
free
in otherworld −

I find
in ways
I remained
overthere,
missed

much of this life,
shortened...

Terra Ingognito

unknown

ever looming,
threatening, constantly,
a dark silence lay in wait;

always I avoided it -

now, finally,
I listened.

It was no bogeyman
who lived
in that darkness,
there were no bear traps
hidden in the leaves...
