I know I could
I have
I just mean my bed serves no purpose if it’s not where you lay your head
And the last time we laid there will linger in the air

The trouble with leaving is I never want to go.
And by that I mean, if I could
I’d sew my skin into cotton sheets
Set my bones into bed frame
If it meant always being the soft place she rests
I think I was born from the clouds in that way

I’m on my way home
Or maybe to an open mic at my favorite local coffee spot
I haven’t decided yet
When I pass by the corporate coffee shop on the corner
And through the glass
I see her
With another red head
