So much said in just a few lines. I love rhyming poems, and this one has a smooth rhythm. It is a lovely, well written poem.

Steven, my heart grieved with you as I read this poem. To watch helplessly as a loved one dies day by day shreds the heart in ways beyond description, and yet you captured it in this poem.

Thank you, Randy. It was fun writing these for my Dad. I have more, but as I commented to Robin my favorite was too long for the contest; this was my second favorite.

Thank you! It was so much fun writing these—I wrote about a dozen of them for my Dad over as many years.

Thanks Robin. It is actually my second favorite of all the Santa poems I wrote for my Dad. My number 1 favorite is was too long for the guidelines.

I like how the author balanced the sweetness of his own and his Mother’s love, with his sadness at not telling her more often and especially not being there when she died.

That’s what I’m guessing. My mug was same, only had part of my poem.

Congratulations.

Thank you, Steve. I am always saddened by the lack of personal insight of those who use the “If you love me, you…” manipulation tactic. There are so many more areas this poem could called out. I especially like the last line.

It breaks my heart, too. It is beyond comprehension > the group-think that can lead people into such hate and violence.

I get you, Steve. There does seem to be a preferred style and, I say, subject matter, too. Still good to read everyone else’s poetry.

This is a profound poem for those of us who have lived this hide-and-seek reality. We know what we know. May all the Little Girls, and the Little Boys, find safety and healing in the journey into their own memories to find and draw out their Little selves--their real selves. The seeking me finds the hiding me, and we heal together. Thank you for reminding me not to leave my Little Girl alone in hiding for too long.

You nailed it on that subject. I'd have voted on this one. I wish we could vote for a favorite poem and a runner-up poem. Love your writings.

Some powerful truths here! It is mind-numbing how evil humans can be towards other humans. Surely there will be a day of reckoning.

One more vivid and powerful poem. It's like a short version of part of the Book of Revelation. Another well penned piece, Robin!

Probably. But I think you have enough healing to do, so please don't add this. Prayers you are better soon.

Donna, Thank you for posting about Robin. I am so sorry to hear this, but glad she is on the mend. Prayers her heart heals. My brother was diagnosed with congestive heart failure years ago, and doctors were able to correct his heart; he no longer has that condition.Robin, rest and heal, my friend. Much love and prayers you are better soon.

That's a good point Robin. I will submit in November. And good to see you, too. I always enjoy conversing with you.
