Waves

Professor, therapist, author and poet.

Waves of sorrow push you down and quickly pass on through.
First it feels like you will drown
and then insights renew.
Waves of remorse turn you cold and quickly gain reprieve.
First it feels like you will scold
and then regrets up-heave.
Waves of fancy play you hard and quickly fizzle out.
First it feels like you will guard
and then becomes redoubt.
Waves of pining bind you tight and quickly moderate.
First it feels like you will fight
and then conciliate.
Waves of belief give you hope and quickly disappear.
First it feels like you will cope
and then reasons adhere.
Waves of respite lift you high and quickly fade away.
First it feels like you will fly
and then demons repay.
