Many Say You're Dead

Professor, therapist, author and poet.

You don't answer email. You don't note it said.
You're so inattentive many say you're dead.

You don't make an effort. You don't make a bed.
You're so cataleptic many say you're dead.

You don't talk to Mary. You don't talk to Fred.
You're so indifferent many say you're dead.

You don't defeat worry. You don't defeat dread.
You're so dispirited many say you're dead.

You don't give a morsel. You don't give a shred.
You're so inefficient many say you're dead.

You don't eat the dinner. You don't eat the bread.
You're so apathetic many say you're dead.

You don't think of others. You don't think ahead.
You're so insensitive many say you're dead.

You don't see a green light. You don't see a red.
You're so preoccupied many say you're dead.
