Jewels Within Jewels

Ian Sawicki has been writing poetry for over twenty years. He is a Manchester born poet, who has dedicated his life to exploration and composition of poetry. His work reflects the many great influential experiences of his life, the pain, the pleasure combined to create new exciting poetry. If anyon…

In quiet moments visions swirl across
the confines of silence; coloured with hues
of memory's dry weighty influence.
Three joints bend on six legs as I feel air
shimmer incorruptible vibrations,
antennae tastes sweet scent as I scissor
my jaw; a powerful sideways motion.

I'm surrounded by mirrored images,
busy-body strength reflects in cold eyes;
multifaceted jewels within jewels.
Exoskeleton's hard edge around me
protects this soft interior; spirit
bound I capture a wild instant before
the sky is covered with sudden darkness.
Awake - sweat stings the realisation
of I am alive again as a man.
