Day To Die

Professor, therapist, author and poet.

Was it a pleasant day to die, I wondered of my friend?
Or was it like rough, stormy sky when time was near the end?

Was it a moment of relief, I wondered of my friend?
Or was it like sad, maudlin grief when time was near the end?

Was it a peaceful passing on, I wondered of my friend?
Or was it like all joy is gone when time was near the end?

Was it a summary of life, I wondered of my friend?
Or was it like a sudden knife when time was near the end?

Was it a warming, welcome light, I wondered of my friend?
Or was it like dark, frigid night when time was near the end?

Was it a pleasant day to die, I wondered of my friend?
Or was it like unanswered "why" when time was near the end?
