Best friends, always near one another,
Secrets shared--sometimes too much.
One day unexpectedly, friends can transform,
Into their own secret.

Blissful escape at first,
Then confusion cuts deep in this glance.
Guilt, then pain point the way,
To the true consequences.

Lingering love and responsibility widen this gap,
In our friendship's foundation.
While memories give in to regret, angst, longing,
Stay just a moment longer...

What a hard road back we have secured
And a tough secret, we now must forever endure.
I will never forget these hard lessons learned.
As I travel upon this long return, to our friendship.
